Salutations to Lord Dhanvantari, the divine healer with the pot of nectar, who removes all afflictions and diseases. I bow to Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the three worlds. According to the Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana, and Mahabharata, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the cosmic ocean of milk during the great churning event known as Samudra Manthan. As the Devas (gods) and Asuras (demons) churned the ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality (Amrita), Lord Dhanvantari appeared holding the pot of celestial nectar in his hands.
