Oṃ — Approaching the eastern mountain, Bhāskara (the Radiant Sun) holds a lotus in his hand. He is the eye of all the worlds, comparable to a jeweled cord. He is the lion that slays the elephant of darkness, the awakener of the lotus-maidens — may that most excellent of gods, the beautiful illuminator of the universe, be worshipped. (1)

Oṃ — We meditate upon Bhāskara (the Radiant Sun); may we contemplate the greatly splendorous one. May that Āditya illuminate our intellect. (23)

ōṃ udayagirimupētaṃ bhāskaraṃ padmahastaṃ
sakalabhuvananētraṃ ratnarajjūpamēyam ।
timirakarimṛgēndraṃ bōdhakaṃ padminīnāṃ
suravaramabhivandyaṃ sundaraṃ viśvadīpam ॥ 1 ॥
Translation
ōṃ śikhāyāṃ bhāskarāya namaḥ ।
lalāṭē sūryāya namaḥ ।
bhrūmadhyē bhānavē namaḥ ।
karṇayōḥ divākarāya namaḥ ।
nāsikāyāṃ bhānavē namaḥ ।
nētrayōḥ savitrē namaḥ ।
mukhē bhāskarāya namaḥ ।
ōṣṭhayōḥ parjanyāya namaḥ ।
pādayōḥ prabhākarāya namaḥ ॥ 2 ॥

ōṃ brahmatējōjjvalajvālāmālinē maṇikumbhāya huṃ phaṭ svāhā ।
ōṃ tārakabrahmarūpāya parayantra-paratantra-paramantra-sarvōpadravanāśanārthaṃ dakṣiṇadigbhāgē māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 5 ॥
ōṃ viṣṇutējōjjvalajvālāmālinē maṇikumbhāya huṃ phaṭ svāhā ।
ōṃ prachaṇḍamārtāṇḍa ugratējōrūpiṇē mukuravarṇāya tējōvarṇāya mama sarvarājastrīpuruṣa-vaśīkaraṇārthaṃ paśchimadigbhāgē māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 6 ॥
ōṃ rudratējōjjvalajvālāmālinē maṇikumbhāya huṃ phaṭ svāhā ।
ōṃ bhavāya rudrarūpiṇē uttaradigbhāgē sarvamṛtyōpaśamanārthaṃ māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 7 ॥
ōṃ agnitējōjjvalajvālāmālinē maṇikumbhāya huṃ phaṭ svāhā ।
ōṃ timiratējasē sarvarōganivāraṇāya ūrdhvadigbhāgē māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 8 ॥
ōṃ sarvatējōjjvalajvālāmālinē maṇikumbhāya huṃ phaṭ svāhā ।
ōṃ namaskārapriyāya śrīsūryanārāyaṇāya adhōdigbhāgē sarvābhīṣṭasiddhyarthaṃ māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 9 ॥

mitra-ravi-sūrya-bhānu-khagapūṣa-hiraṇyagarbha-
marīchyāditya-savitrarka-bhāskarēbhyō namaḥ śirasthānē māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 11 ॥
sūryādi navagrahēbhyō namaḥ lalāṭasthānē māṃ rakṣatu ॥ 12 ॥
dharāya namaḥ dhṛvāya namaḥ
sōmāya namaḥ atharvāya namaḥ
anilāya namaḥ analāya namaḥ
pratyūṣāya namaḥ pratāpāya namaḥ

hiraṇyagarbhāya namaḥ nābhisthānē māṃ rakṣatu ।
marīchayē namaḥ kaṇṭhasthānē māṃ rakṣatu ।
ādityāya namaḥ dakṣiṇachakṣūṣi māṃ rakṣatu ।
savitrē namaḥ vāmachakṣuṣi māṃ rakṣatu ।
