In western culture, the feminine face of God was removed many thousands of years ago. This denial of the Sacred Feminine has led to a belief that women are inferior and subordinate to men, and their place is little more than a receptacle for mans seed. Without a feminine face of God, men have been the only gender to be Godlike. This desire to be Godlike has driven men from their true path, for without the Sacred Feminine within, men cannot seek the Goddess in their women.
The face of the Sacred Feminine has in many cultures, such as Hindi, never been challenged. A quick look at Egyptian beliefs shows us the God and Goddess Osiris and Isis, who are claimed to have taught man and woman how to love one another. Western culture, however, has denied, and even demonised the feminine face of God. This patriarchal form of “God The Father” has been dominant and has then claimed the feminine qualities as His own.
This loss of the Sacred Feminine has been part of the patriarchal, warrior culture that has been dis empowering men as well as women. By removing the feminine face of God, and usurping the feminine energy as masculine, men have lost touch with their intuition, their receptive selves, and their power to nurture. Without these qualities in themselves, men have been unable to seek these qualities in their women partners.
With the face of God determined as masculine, women were thought to be lesser, and the feminine sexuality was looked down upon and was excluded from deities, and so followed, that the power of a woman to arouse a man was no longer considered Sacred, but was now sinful. From this point, the sacred communion between men and women was lost to all.
However, a change is in the air, as we now see even Christians turning to the model of Jesus and Mary Magdalene as the Sacred couple who embody the balance between the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine.
Todays men need to set themselves to task in recovering their stories and their archetypes, rather than relying on the archetypes put before us. The embodiment of a masculine God, without a feminine polarity, suits those who seek power and domination over women, nature, and other men. They drive to be number one, rather than be part of a community, they favour rationale rather than emotional, and measure success by their conquests rather than being receptive to who they are.
The honouring of the Sacred Feminine is, for men, a sacred task. This is the charge of the spiritual warrior, the mission of men. Who is this spiritual warrior? The spiritual warrior is the Sacred Masculine in action. When we, as men, set ourselves to task on receiving and embracing the Sacred Feminine we are on a sacred journey.
When the Sacred Feminine is received and honoured within men, the man gets to embrace the richness of his intuition, the fullness of his receptive self, the depths of his emotions, the strength of his creativity and the sense of his own powerful and nurturing nature.
Men are now awakening to the Sacred Feminine, and discovering the power of the Sacred Feminine that lays within them. The Sacred Feminine is a quality of spiritual energy that men need to embrace. This nurturing and creative energy is the weapon of the spiritual warrior. With this, men can explore aspects of themselves that had been previously discouraged and locked away.
Strength, Truth, Courage and Compassion are the qualities of the Sacred Masculine. When combined with the Intuitive, Accepting, Creative, and Nurturing qualities of the Sacred Feminine a man can be fully realised and ready to look for the Sacred Feminine in his relationships with women.
By receiving and honouring the Sacred Feminine we can rediscover the Sacred Masculine and be free of the patriarchal archetypes that have failed for so long, and the Sacred Masculine can be honoured for the divinity held within. With the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine polarised, we can move towards a whole of being Sacred Spiritual Self.
